How long have you had your boiler? A year? Two years? Five years? If everything has been ticking along nicely and you haven’t had any problems you may be thinking to yourself ‘Why do I need a gas boiler service?’. It’s going to cost money and everything is fine…why bother?
We thought we’d write this blog to just explain some of the very important reasons why you do need a boiler service.
So first of all…
If you are a Landlord it is your legal duty – it is your responsibility to ensure your tenant’s boiler is safe and working efficiently. Your boiler service should be scheduled annually. Get in touch if you are a Landlord and you’d like to get us round to do yours.
Now on to the rest of us…
It will ensure the safety of your boiler – one of the most important aspects of a boiler service is ensuring that your boiler is safe. The inspection includes checking boiler pressure, air supply and safety devices, as well as ventilation.
It will improve the performance and efficiency of your boiler – part of the boiler service is a thorough clean, which will remove any deposits which have built up in your boiler, this will improve heat transfer allowing the boiler to light more easily and burn more efficiently.
It will spot potential issues before your boiler breaks down – during the inspection the engineer will turn your boiler on and let it run. This allows them to identify any possible faults. They will also check individual components such as the burner, heat exchanger and spark sensor.
It will maintain your warranty – all boilers come with a warranty, from 5 years up to 10 years. However these warranties are ONLY valid if you have an annual service carried out by a qualified and certified Gas Safe engineer.
It will save you money in long run – the main reason why a boiler service saves you money is that it works more effectively. The fuel will burn more efficiently and because you are sure every part is working properly it will be producing exactly the right amount of energy you need to heat your home and water.
